Namo Venkatesaya – Namo Srinivasaya

The long awaited dream of building Sri Balaji temple at Ahmedabad was initiated way back in 1975 and had been fulfilled in 2007, after continuous efforts by many a great devotees. It was a momentous and exciting journey performed with innumerable surprises all along. It was the Lord Venkateswara who had shown the way to us all the time.

On behalf of myself and Sri Balaji Temple team, I humbly convey our heart felt gratefulness to Ahmedabad Andhra Maha Sabha, all the devotees, well-wishers, individuals, philanthropists, supporters, corporate houses and members of for their valuable contributions, support and suggestions in development of this temple. We are indebted to great devotees like Late Smt Leelaben Kesubhai Patel who had taken great interest in construction of this temple. She was constantly enquiring about the progress and had offered first ornamental crown to Sri Balaji even before the beginning of temple construction. Such acts of devotees encouraged us and provided strength to scale this uphill task successfully. We sincerely thank the state Governments of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Government of India and Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) whose help had been vital in the construction and maintenance of Sri Balaji Temple.

Temple construction: After the acquisition of the land in the year 2000, the construction plans were worked out by Stapati of TTD as per Vaikhanasa Aagama sastra. About 40 sculptors carved the stones at Triupati, transported them by road to Ahmedabad. Many specialist stapaties camped for three years (2003 to 2006) and completed the temple construction. Sri Balaji temple was opened for public on 7thApril 2007 after Prana Pratista. The main sanctum of Sri Balaji was constructed with granite stone while the remaining sub temples of Padamvati, Goda Devi, Garuda, Ganesha and Nagaraja and Raja Gopuram were built with bricks. Around 225 small cement idols of Devas were made and installed on the five storied Raja Gopuram, on the top of mukha mandapam, on the temple gopurams and other parts of the temple. In addition, big cement idols of Garuda, Hanuman and Viswaroopam were installed. Stone idols of Dwarapalakas Jaya and Vijaya, Annamayya and Dasavatara were sculped out and installed. Long teak wood trunk of 60+ feet was obtained for Dwaja stamba purpose, from Malaysia, transporting by ship to Kandla port and by road to Ahmedabad. Two more sub temples of Sri Vikhanasa Muni and Viswaksena swami were constructed, recently, in this campus and prana pratista was completed on 16th Feb 2019.

Devotee Interaction: About sixty thousand devotees from Gujarat and Rajasthan are having darshan every month from all walks of life. Some devotees interact with the temple team and seek advice on personal problems, family problems and business issues etc. They perform special poojas as per the advice to cross over their difficulties and got benefitted. Subsequently, devotees express their experiences of satisfaction and success. Devotees have fulfilling darshan as if they have visited Tirupati-Tirumala.

It is matter of great satisfaction that Sri Balaji temple has been one of the hundred monuments, identified by Government of Gujarat to claim Ahmedabad as Heritage city, from World Heritage Council.
