Welcome to Ahmedabad Andhra Maha Sabha (AAMS)

Ahmedabad Andhra Mahasabha (AAMS) is a socio cultural organization, established in 1946 with Master Durgayya garu as president and Mattekunta Satyanarayana garu as secretary. AAMS worked with the aims of bringing people together, preserve language and culture and develop friendly relationship among Telugu and Gujarati people.

After great efforts of nearly 10 years, “Andhra Vidyalaya Sangam” was established and a Telugu school was started in Ahmedabad. The school progressed well in its curriculum and classes, with about 2000 Telugu students studying in 1974. It was supported and taken over by municipal corporation. Today, Telugu teaching is stopped but the school is running under the same name.

AAMS members made eminent contributions for the development of Gujarat and India. AAMS organizes festivals, events, trainings and competitions to preserve culture and also to develop artists in music, dance, drama, painting, folk arts, mimicry etc. AAMS members actively contribute to various social service activities and imbibe good qualities among youngsters. AAMs has always been in the forefront to help people affected by floods, draughts, earthquakes, pandemics etc.

As per the dreams of members, AAMS organized Venkateswara vaibhavam. Subsequently AAMS played the key role in the construction of Sri Balaji Temple at Ahmedabad in 2007 and formation of a trust to run it. AAMS took the initiative and coordinated the formation of “Rastretara Telugu Samakya“ to help preserve and develop culture and language at National level. AAMS hosted the inaugural session of RTS in 2015 with 500 artists participating from various corners of India.

AAMS completed 75 years during COVID. As part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, various activities of social service and competitions are being carried out during this year to spread the spirit of success and unity. The concluding functions are planned to be held during 4 th and 5 th of February 2023.
